40 Days in the Word

On January 29th  Anchor will be kicking off 40 DAYS IN THE WORD, a church-wide weekly study of six principles of the Word of God. We will explore the authenticity, reliability, power, comfort, interpretation and doing of God’s Word. This journey will encourage the spiritual growth of the whole church.

As part of the study, we will be forming Small Groups that will meet once a week for six weeks and would love for everyone at Anchor to be part of a group. Groups will meet at various locations, days & times, so finding the right fit for your schedule should be easy.

Christmas at Anchor

On Friday, December 16, we held our Anchor Christmas party at Charis House, a place for homeless mothers and their children. We had a great time interacting with the wonderful people at Charis House, and everyone had a chance to get their picture taken with Santa. A bunch of photos from the event are posted on Anchor’s Facebook page.

On Sunday, December 18, three special things happened:

  • The children retold the Christmas story, with some help from adults and a lot of interaction from the congregation. You can see a lot of photos on our Facebook page.
  • We opened Christmas presents which people bought for Anchor–common things Anchor needs, like coffee, toilet paper, markers, ice melt, cleaning supplies, etc. Children passed out the gifts to adults in the pews, who opened them.
  • Christmas cards were distributed to the congregation. Rather than have everyone spend money on postage sending cards to each other, we just turn in cards to the church and distribute them while gifts are being opened.

Community Connections

Did you know that since January, our Community Connections Ministry has done the following?

  • Served 88 individuals (25 were individuals from Anchor).
  • Provided 30 individuals & families with food vouchers. Those vouchers totaled 3800 lbs of food!
  • Given 265 hours to meeting or talking on the phone with clients.

Anchor is working to make the Community Connections Ministry better and we want YOU to be involved!! Through volunteers, we want to strengthen the relationship with clients and make the life of Christ more tangible to those who reach out for help.

Operation Christmas Child

Anchor once again participated in Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samartan’s Purse. What a simple, yet effective way to make a difference in a child’s life! This year–our third–we collected 60 shoeboxes, our most yet. We collected the shoeboxes on November 20. You can find details about what can go in each box on Samaritan’s Purse’s website.

Read the Bible in a Year

Interested in reading your Bible more? Anchor will be reading through the Bible in a year. Pick up the schedule on Sunday. Or access it online here. Or get it emailed to you.

But you get to choose where and when you read it during the week. Join this event for weekly insights, encouragement to keep reading, and a place to ask questions.

Opportunities for You

Cathy Ayers is leading a women’s small group on Monday nights, 7-8:30 pm. They meet at the church.

Disabled and elderly neighbors need help with a variety of tasks during the summer months. You can find a neighbor to serve in your community through NeighborLink Fort Wayne. Contact Pastor Tim Hallman for more details.
