Sundays
We have one service on Sunday morning at 10:00. It would be considered contemporary. We start out with some singing, led by our fine worship team (guitars, drums, keyboard). We enjoy peppy music.
We like services to be lively and meaningful. And we like to keep things unpredictable--meaning, the service doesn't follow the same format Sunday after Sunday. Or, at least, we might throw in something unexpected.
Hungry?
You'll find a snack table in the foyer, along with coffee and juice. Feel free to take something into the sanctuary. We don't get hung up about that.
What to Wear
We keep things casual. Like clothing. Come in your bluejeans (or shorts, if it's warm outside). You'll feel right at home.
Sunday School
We have Sunday school classes to teach children and adults about the Bible and Christian living in general.
Nursery
A nursery is available during the worship service. The nursery is located downstairs.
Music
A worship team leads the congregation in four or five songs every Sunday. There will be, typically, two singers, plus people playing guitars, drums, keyboard, tambourine, and shakers.
A lot of great worship music is being written today. We like the music associated with the "passion" movement, as well as songs by such people as Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and other contemporary worship leaders and songwriters. We've also used a lot of songs from the groups Third Day, Mercy Me, and Casting Crowns. We're constantly keeping our ears open for new songs, and for new twists on old songs.
We also respect the great heritage we have in hymns.
Our services don't use songbooks or hymnals. Instead, words are projected onto a big screen via Powerpoint and an electronic projector.
The Lord's Supper
We observe communion (the Lord's Supper) on the first Sunday of every month. We use grape juice and bread. We practice "open communion," which means you don't have to be a member to participate. If you're a Christian, you're welcome to take part with us. In fact, we consider it an honor to take part in the Lord's Supper with Christians from beyond Anchor.
